Night Garden

A concept illustration and animation inspired by Benee’s latest track “night garden”. The magic of nature at night contrasts with a creepy character hiding in the dark. This latest piece evokes notes of fantasy and imagination, a sense of folklore, and a creature lurking in the deep forests and unknown.

About the project

The artwork is made entirely with cut papers, old scraps of GF Smith sample papers taken from the Colorplan range, using the brightest tones to bring the potency of the flowers to the foreground. The animation is built with hand-cut stop-frame using around 25 frames to create an efficient process whilst still achieving a hand-made feel. Each shape is drawn by hand with a classic British Railways BR 1301/9 pencil onto colored paper, the paper shapes are then arranged with complementing digitised patterns made with blunt felt tips, paint, and crayons.
